CEO - Kurt A. Nederveld

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Mr. Nederveld is the Founder and CEO of Rainstar Capital Group, Rainstar Development Capital, Rainstar Project Capital and Rainstar Capital Holdings.  He is a serial entrepreneur, investor, debt adviser and  highly sought after consultant in the debt capital markets. Mr. Nederveld has personally advised over 100 marketing clients that are Fund Managers, Debt Funds, Investment Bankers, Fintech lenders and Specialty Finance firms. He manages multiple investment/direct lending firms that focus on niche investments and operates a robust debt advisory firm assisting clients with corporate finance, commercial real estate, small business and equipment financing needs. In his personal life, Mr. Nederveld has had to over come extreme hardships of cancer and the tragic passing of his daughter Ava. Mr. Nederveld graduated from Calvin College based in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a B.A. in Business. He is active in leadership roles in his church, Gideon’s International, Institute of Reformed Biblical Counseling and in his role as a husband and father. He enjoys reading, playing pickleball, golf, jet skiing and spending time with his family.

President & Team Leader: Frederick Ruffin

Location: Cincinnati, OH
Frederick Ruffin is an entrepreneur with nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. His expertise includes investment management, consumer banking, business banking, merchant services, and treasury services. He held Series 6 and Life, Health & Annuity Licenses. Before joining Rainstar Capital Group, he was both the owner and finance broker of FLR Business Solutions. His company provided alternative lending solutions including working capital, business lines of credit, start-up capital, SBA loans, term loans, and real estate investment financing to help his clients achieve their financial goals. Mr. Ruffin is also a member of his local Chamber of Commerce.

When not in his office, Frederick enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. He also serves as an outreach minister at his church and is certified as a Christian-based addictions counselor for Celebrate Recovery. Frederick’s hobbies include playing the drums in his church band, bowling and golf.

TEAM LEADER/ MANAGING DIRECTOR: Greg Adlington

Greg was born in London, Ontario, Canada. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Greg began his career with the Royal Bank of Canada in 1980. Over the next five years he moved around the province of British Columbia working on special projects until finally settling in the town of Dawson Creek, BC, running his own branch of the bank. In 1985, Greg and his wife Jackie, emigrated to the US and took up residence in San Diego. He and Jackie have three grown children, Alex, Connor, and Kelly.

    Steven H. Sills has been in the financial services field since 2001. His career began in the residential mortgages sector and progressed to working at several bank institutions and firms in the capital markets such as Lehman, BNC and Aurora. Prior to joining Rainstar Capital Group, Mr. Sills was the Founder and CEO of I and S Commercial Finance, Inc. a Phoenix, Arizona based commercial finance advisory firm.

  • Brian McKenzie is a native of Dayton, Ohio and currently resides in Ft. Worth, Texas. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Central State University, along with his Masters of Business Administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has spent the past 22 years in the mortgage industry as a Loan Originator, Branch & Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, and most recently Sr. Sales Manager and head of Retail National Expansion.

    Brian is also a father of one daughter, as well as a Grandfather. Over the years, he has been an active member in the community organizations and is passionate with regards to providing financial literacy education to under-served populations. He is very excited to join the Rainstar Team and looks forward to being an integral part of the strategic build-out of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

  • Mark Sorensen has an extensive background in domestic and international banking. Senior management positions have included investor relations, credit risk portfolio management, and commercial lending, Before joining Rainstar Capital Group, he owned and financed his own small business enterprise and has sourced funding for other ventures by providing strategic business planning and loan proposal preparation.

    Mark speaks several languages and enjoys traveling with his wife to participate in charitable organization projects.

  • A graduate of the University of Texas, Mr. Slaback offers more than 30 years of banking, lending and business experience and education to his clients. Ed began his banking career with the FDIC and progressed up the ranks to serve as a senior loan officer, chief credit officer and president and CEO of two banks.

Leveraging extensive experience leading turnarounds, growth companies and securing financing, he brings to Rainstar Capital Group a strong skill set in understanding business and how to properly match a business’s needs to appropriate financing sources. Rich is a valuable advisor for an organization encountering financial difficulties as well as ones seeking growth capital beyond traditional lending sources. His broad areas of expertise include financial management, real estate, growth, strategy, and how to appropriately use financing sources efficiently and effectively.
